I'm surprised the Morgan maroon solid paint has a clear coat on top. I'd assumed Morgan solid colours were 2 pack and didn't have a coat of clear lacquer applied. Does that mean the 80th limited edition gold decals are under the lacquer or stuck on top? I'm guessing softer paint is less prone to chipping off?
I was given a book - Automotive detailing in detail - which is great for novice and advanced level car detailers alike. If your into really perfecting your car, and keeping it that way, its a good buy and essential read.
Automotive Detailing in Detail: A Guide to Enhancing, Renovating and Maintaining Your Vehicle's Appearance. Less than £19 on amazon by the way.

That is lovely ! Have I missed it, what sort of price does this treatment run to ? My car is black and shows all sorts of swirlies close up ! I wouldnt mind that treatment on The captain.

Yes, you missed it!

...Costs depend on who/where/what/when etc etc! Best give a few places a call as I found the quotes were quite varied... from £800 - £2,100. A lot of money but for me worth it as all the swirls and scratches were really annoying me and I did not want 'another' detailer with a 'mop' having a go... which then removes even more 'clear coat' over the colour!...
Black would look stunning when done!

You could do a good job yourself if you learn the process of paint correction. It is not as scary as some make out provided you do it properly. In the early days I even polished a fridge we were giving to my daughter as practice. My dad was a coachbuilder and so I had a good start. I also did the Autofinesse demo/teaching day at Williams not that long ago. They brought scrap panels along for use. A very good refresher day. When I did my car a couple of weeks ago it wasn’t a paint correction as such, just a light polishing (there are still some deeper marks but I am not going to polish it to death to remove them)With the dual action machine. A safer option than full rotary polisher. It looks like an angle grinder( ) but actually stops rotating if too much pressure is applied.

That's where the book I mentioned is really useful. Its so easy to do damage if the wrong product/methods/equipment are used. Very rewarding if its your thing - some people love detailing whilst others hate it. I have seen some horrific results where keenness has overtaken skill - demo days are a great idea and great tips canbe picked up.

Pete 757 You sure can be proud of that lovely looking bit of machinery and definately worthy of splashing the cash to provide a bit of extra care to detail it faultlessly... Beautiful. When I bought my Morgan it as a recent restoration to concours condition, on the first day I had it home, I drove it hard up an unmade road with stones flying, the idea was to get over worrying about the perfect finish QUICKLY, as opposed to suffering death by a thousand cuts every time a stone hit... Such was the quality of the work put into it`s restoration that having driven over a few unmade roads since and occasionally used it with snow on the ground I think it still looks pretty smart today some 16 years later though perhaps only 25k miles in that time... I have recently posted pics of my +8 in the appropriate section, and will post another couple taken on less than smooth roads... All that really matters is that people can and do enjoy their Morgans in a variety of ways and NOT necessarily all the same.. ENJOY

These two photo's illustrate how good detailing can be. Earlier this year I bought a brand new VW Transporter, and as it's going to be a keeper, I took it along to Gtechniq HQ who are local to me. John Winn's had his Speedster ceramic coated there & it looks a million dollars. This was a photo within a week and 130 miles: ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2019/08/06/fullsizeoutput_2918.jpg) And four days later.. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2019/08/06/fullsizeoutput_2962.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2019/08/06/fullsizeoutput_296e.jpg) The main benefit of having it done was ease of washing. The coating is so hydrophobic, it's an easy surface to look after with minimal effort. With a new Morgan, I wouldn't hesitate. But part of the appeal of Morganeering is the looking after bit, and I like doing the polishing and fettling, and as mine isn't new, I'm doing it..

What did they do with the bright steel hubs and the brass wheel nuts?
I have a constant battle to keep them looking their best, I currently use an aerosol wax after a metal polish , it prevents tarnishing, but it attracts dirt and needs to be wiped off and re-applied.

Howard, as you say the elements are not kind to any car and the fun is in driving. Maybe a ceramic coat would help protect for longer though ?
