So after my 2nd Hilka gun has failed on its first use I have had enough.

My search is on for a Wanner. Any recommendations on potential pitfalls\issues etc?

Hope everyone is well

They are simply brilliant - loads of old second hand ones on ebay usually - I have bought 3 old ones like that and all work perfectly. Far superior to modern , cheapo ones from draper/hilka etc

Had to think back..... my Wanner is 50 years old...!!!!! Still in use greasing my Morgan... Built to last I guess, no sign of built in obsolescence here...(-: A tad messy to fill but if you accept greasing can be a messy business, there is no problemo..(-:

Good luck in your search to find one RBW.

Or you could try this battery one that I use.

The Wanner is perfect. I started out buying a cheap gun, cartridge type. Worked ok the couple of times I used it, but was large and cumbersome. I still use it, but just to fill up the Wanner, could do it in a white tuxedo, no mess.

Life choices are always to be made for good or ill and they demand attention. We lose some sleep, then ponder the impossible. Anyone can make a snap decision, that's the easy one. For the ditherer - from one who has dithered a plenty: If it's really what you want - make it snappy. If you don't know - sleep on it. If it troubles you for more than a month or two - ask a friend to make the choice for you.

The blue Draper dribbles everywhere - The Wanner is an easy winner.

When you don't make your mind up you don't get what you want. An occasion when its better to be happy with what's already to hand.
Now I have two grease guns, one is messy, heavy and leaks. The rubbish blue Draper.

The other is compact, effective, and does not leak, Swiss made by Wanner, found on E-bay at £12.50

I bought a new Draper when I first had my Morgan, but it's not a patch on my old Wanner (exactly as pictured in Moggo's image) which I've had for nearly 50 years. Just remember to nip up the bleed valves properly after re-filling if you don't want an arm covered in grease! swear

Bought a new Abnox/Wanner grease gun, the mINI one handed one a couple of years ago. Initially didn't use it much but found it almost impossible to lock onto nipple. Tried adjusting head but although the two parts are threaded they seem locked together.

When I got my Roadster obviously needed to use regularly so out of frustration bought a cheap flex hose with its own head through eBay. This worked perfectly but the threaded end onto Wanner body was a tight fit. Put the hose fitting in vice and slowly unwound the tight fitting head. Also removed original Wanner one and replaced with cheapo one. Now have the Wanner working as intended. No doubt a great brand so maybe I was just unlucky in receiving a badly made/adjusted one.

Wanner is a perfect choice.

Mine is at least 50 years old and works perfectly, available quite cheaply on Ebay.

The Wanner grease gun with flexible high-pressure hose and G-coupler is the perfect tool!

It is also small enough to take on longer journeys.

In the picture my "travel set" with some cleaning paper, disposable gloves and garbage bag.
