I’ve been filling up the oil through the vent plug with no issues or leaks (2013 model with 7000km) If you measure the difference it’s only about a cm more. I couldn’t upload a picture by photobucket.

If it's only a small amount extra to the vent plug why not do it correctly and fill it to the fill plug level? It takes about 330ml of oil if it's the difficulty of removing the fill plug. With gearbox oil more is not better. 750 miles a year is hardly pushing it for a reliability study really.

What i meant to say was that the extra oil didn’t ruin the seal. filling the fill plug is easier Than the vent plug. But When you look at the bevel box from the side, the vent plug level seems to look better to me. Is the fill plug level really enough oil in the bb?

Redline update:
I put Redline Shockproof 80W250 in a few weeks ago. Initially it seem to have a small effect with a slight reduction in noise but over a wider speed range. Now it’s done a couple of 100 miles I think it’s no better and maybe even slightly worse than the Millers 80W140.
I’ll leave it in for my upcoming trip to Switzerland and see if it changes with more running.

Has made a difference in mine (was a right screamer ) its changed the really high pitch into a slightly lower one! More bearable for now anyhow!!
