Due to the impending arrival of something else, my Volvo is for sale.
Firstly the only reason I am selling is because something I've been looking for for a long time has cropped up at a very reasonable price, but to fund it this has to go. It passed its MOT not three weeks ago and also has 6 months tax on it.
It's a 2000, W-reg V70 Classic (auto) in black with 155k on it. 2.4 engine with 170bhp, which is probably enough! Full leather, heated seats, mirrors, dual air-con, etc. Upgraded Pioneer head unit with bluetooth, AUX input, etc. which is fantastic. The hifi goes to 11.
Mechanically it is very strong. It was recommissioned by a Volvo motorsport specialist a few years ago and was given a full service last year by the previous owner who was an automotive engineer. It had its oil and filter changed when MOT'd.
The engine is strong and there's no issues with oil usage or the like. Battery was replacement in January and has a 3-year warranty. The AA man who fitted it commented on what good overall condition the car was in. Gearbox is nice and smooth for a V70 and kicks down as it should for strangely spirited driving!
A complete cliché but it has not put a foot wrong in a year of motoring.
Bad points:
It received one advisory on the MOT, which is that the rear brake disc has corroded; however, it has obviously passed the braking test and it is something I was going to sort out reasonably soon (obv. as I was going to keep it). Replacement Mintex discs/pads are £55(!) so this is not an expensive job.
Bodywork is generally sound although it is an 11-year-old Volvo estate! Usual scuffs on the tailgate, small parking dent in passenger door, a few marks on the interior but certainly nothing major.
I'm looking to get what it 'owes' me in terms of getting the new car and selling it expediently so I don't have to pay two lots of insurance. As such, I'm asking for a good chunk less than I paid, which is
£1600, now £1,500.
Cheers!
