You do indeed look happy in Happy Jack. Did you name the car? Enjoy your motoring adventures.

Where did you purchase it?

Thank you Planenut, and yes, I am a disabled veteran who has had disabled plates for years, but I was surprised to learn they offered them for motorcycle plates. Here in The Colonies, at least Washington State has the plates. Mine is number 0010, so, either I am a 001 Agent or just number 10. I almost got my right leg blown off, got my pelvis fractured and intestines scrambled by bone and metal fragments, femoral vein removed and artery patched and shrapnel through right leg in the side of the knee and out the top and back of thigh and out the top inside, both arms and into my right shoulder. I spent 7 months in military hospitals and because I recovered fairly well was put back into service training troops in the states for another 10 months with limitations to my activity. I sort of earned that disabled plate. Because I can walk fairly well and my face was untouched I get dirty looks for using the parking privilege. I got pretty lucky to be in the hospital long enough for someone to pay attention to the rest of me and they discovered aggressive melanoma near a surgical incision; so I was lucky to get blownup otherwise I would have died from the cancer in a few short years. Odd isn’t it? Just lucky because we were bathing in Agent Orange and breathing the dust on the dirt roads (I drove tracked vehicles) and a column of those kick up a lot of dust.

It is indeed a noisy and poorly assembled little beast, imo, and rattles like it is a shipment of baby rattles from Amazon. The bevel box whine is amazing and I can believe that it won’t last long.

For those that might doubt the validity of my claims.
...
And here is the shrapnel and the wires still in me.
...
It has been 53 years of learning how to adapt and to take on new challenges to keep myself active. Use it or lose it.

Despite having been in the car with people who have pulled in to handicap spaces because they have the tags even though the disabled person isn't in the car with them, I always give people parking in the spaces the benefit of the doubt. You can't see all disabilities.

I am curious about how easy it is to get in and out of the M3W. I've had a couple of people probably 1/3rd your age try to get into the passenger seat of mine. I may have to show them your post.

Also, any modification to the gas pedal? Are you braking with the left leg?

Nick, because it has been so many years since that event changed my life I have learned many small work arounds to make the right leg function so,what normally. The range of motion has always been a problem and I have to lift my right leg into and out of the cockpit. The right leg will still bend far enough to get in and it relies on the ability of the bad leg to be strong enough to support me while I raise the leg over the side of the cockpit. Now to lose some weight😊.

You are right about the “not all disabilities are visible”, I cannot count the number of doctors who see me for the first time comment after the normal first encounter of seeing the naked body, “what the hell happened to you?” . It makes me immediately think that they were not readers since my medical history basically started in 1967 since nothing of note happened to me before that time. A normal kid doing normal things. When I walk through metal detectors it will usually set off all sorts of alarms and then lots of questions, so that is why I kept my current xrays on my phone to stave off invasive investigation.

My gas pedal is stock since the foot flexes in up and down fairly well, although slightly off angle because of the nerve and tendon damage.

I basically stand on one foot while holding the roll bar and I raise the leg up high enough to grab the pant cuff and lift it over the threshold.

I am sure a younger more flexible person might be able to do it if they can support their weight on one foot.

We went to drop a friends Porsche off to be serviced and decided while killing time to drive out to the Hood Canal for a pizza in Seabeck. The pizza box for a 14" thin crust pizza barley fit and would not fit on the seat or in the footwell. If we put it in the boot the pie wou;ld have ended up at one end of the box, so Ed got to carry it.

This is another 360 degree video so you can pan around with your mouse. Thanks Ed for the music.

A beautiful Summer's day in Southern Vermont! I tried. I failed. Too many visitors in the state getting that last gasp of summer vacation/break before the daily grind sets in.

Also too many drivers who have ignored their blinker fluid levels to the detriment to all! And a big shout out to the people who have still not learned the concept behind the "STOP" signs. Is it the one vowel or the three consonants? I don't know...

Soon they will be returning from whence they came and I can resume my mid-week drives with grace, panache and a modicum of style as I will own the whole damn road!

What's your mileage? Who cares. Is it practical? See #1. What happens when it rains? You get wet.

During the summer I try to drive during the week and winters just about any day is good but I always steer clear of holidays. Then I just sit home and watch the carnage on the television.

I am looking forward to taking the M3W into Olympic National Park and go up Hurricane Ridge, there is a nice tunnel there that should give some spectacular sounds :-) and the view from the top is always good, unless forest fires obscure it.

Nicely done and congratulations on the Take Off and Flight which appears to have been a roaring success.
