I have today received in France, from MMC, the brake pedal upgrade kit for early M3W's like mine and I thought folks might like to see what it looks like. Now all I have to do is to take some rubber pills to get flexible enough to get the bottom of the foot well to fit it. Luckily I have at least got a removable steering wheel so that avoids having to get that off its spline. The difficult bit I suspect will be getting the old split pin (goupille fendue in French) out of the existing clevis pin. There is barely enough room to get a pair of side cutters in there to pull it. I have got a large box of assorted new stainless split pins, so at least I am not concerned about destroying the original split pin.

Thanks for the photos Wilson. Don't forget that there is an access panel above the pedals and under the cowl. It will firm up the brake pedal feel and the dealers take about half an hour to fit it I am told, no pressure

Can’t you do it from above by removing the access panel under the bonnet?

I would be cramping in severe pain if I tried to crawl into the footwell. Better yet hire some small, you, flexible person, maybe a yoga instructor, to aide in that replacement while you supervise 😊

The so called pedal access panel does not actually help a great deal as it is too far forward. I removed it when trying to replace the friction material on the clutch pedal but ended up worming my way down the foot well to do that. I will take off the panel but more to get better light in than for access. I am quite small so that at least helps.

Will it unbolt from below? I can’t imagine having to pull the body off the frame to get at it.

Good point, you could temporarily move the pedal assembly to the furthest rearwards position which may help access a bit.

I will try without moving the pedal box first but not today, as it is crash bang wallop outside and has rained 3 cm in the last hour. I got the cover on the M3W with seconds to spare. Morgan allows less than one hour to fit so I am guessing they feel moving the pedal box is unnecessary.

EDF must have further improved the electricity supply to our village again, as even though there were some very nearby strikes (flash and bang simultaneous), my fast gas switch surge protection box, which disconnects power and connects all the house circuits to ground in microseconds, down in the cellar, has only tripped off once. It is usually tripping off every 5 to 10 minutes during an intense thunderstorm. Most modern or modernised houses in the region have elaborate lightning protection, as it is a very lightning prone area. In the 15 years I have had the house, it has had one direct strike, the day I bought it, when fortunately, it was empty and one indirect where the large satellite dish in the garden was hit, which fed into the house, where sadly it turned out that some electrician had wrongly connected the lightning protection, so a lot of damage was done to electrical and electronic equipment. Unusually, this is the first storm for 2 months.

The guy from RTCC who did ours is young and wiry and took half an hour (first one he had done) when ours was done in early July...am glad it was him rather than me!

I will give it a go once the ground has dried out from yesterday's storms, where I think around 5 to 6cm of rain fell. This was very welcome other than by wine grape growers, where the torrential rain may have damaged the crop, nearly ready to harvest, down here in the south of France. If I cannot get in or it looks like I will hurt myself, it will get left until the car goes into winter storage at my brother's secure classic car storage. He has a very competent guy who comes out regularly from the UK to check/work on them and I have seen him climb into some very restricted spaces in historic race cars to get at broken/displaced/leaking bits, even on impossible cars like a T61 Birdcage. I will try and persuade him to take on the M3W.
