Yes I can remember a TV documentary, at the time (BBC I think ) that covered the exhumation of Babs and a fact that I have always remembered is that when uncovered some of the tyres were still inflated

"Babs a brief history"....I wondered where we were going there Richard!

Nice one - I too remember something on TV.

Awesome machine, Sospan and myself went to Pendine beach about three years ago to watch it doing some demo runs. Nothing like it's true top speed, but still a wonderful sight.

What a fantastic experience Ray to see her on home ground, I've seen her at FOS not quite the same thing but an impressive machine.

My Grandmother was born in Pembrey and used to relay stories of the speed trials in their heyday. She remembered Babs and the effect the crash had on the locals.

Great to see her restored.

The video is also on Goodwood's YouTube channel, for those without Facebook.

As a confirmed petrol head, with luddite tendencies there is a special place in my heart for all of those aero engine behemoths. The story of Babs certainly sticks in the memory more than most.. Better alive and firing on all cylinders as opposed to hidden buried in the sand, as a fitting tribute to Parry Thomas and keeping his name alive.... Just my thoughts, yours may differ.. smile

In the late eighties there used to be a MSCC Centre called Menai Mog which covered North West Wales. BABS was restored by Owen Wyn Owen who was an engineering lecturer in Bangor University. Menai Mog used to hold joint meetings with the North Wales sub group of the Morgan Three Wheeler Club and Owen used to come to the meetings as I think he had a Morgan three wheeler. A really nice knowledgeable bloke and someone who encouraged me in my engineering endeavours!!
