So with a fortnight until I go to the factory, the foam at the top of my heater that is supposed to seal against the bonnet is falling apart.

As I would rather not coook myself on the journey, I took some measurements from the remaining good side and attempted to make a replacement out of some closed cell foam I had, but it looks rubbish.

I cant seem to find something that will do the job online, has anyone anyone come accross anywhere selling this?

I presume Morgan will sell me a length whilst I am there but I doubt it will be cheap.

Thanks in advance

I brought length through Amazon, did the job perfectly. However it was a denser foam than the one used st the factory.

Thanks for the reply Martin,

How do you find it seals against the bonnet?

Have a look in Woolies. They sell a range of materials.
I have used plasticine to measure gaps. Tease it to peaks and a closing bonnet will compress it .

Since foam deteriorates over time would a neoprene seal of suitable cross section work? I had in mind something that included a hollow circular section that allowed plenty of crush distortion before sealing. Something like this sealing a cold air inlet shroud to the bonnet as its closed.

There was a previous thread on this a couple of weeks ago with some good photos, but I don't know how to post the 'link' to it

Scroll a long way down on this thread......

The seal is quite unsightly so I covered mine in leather. Around the bonnet hinge I added some neoprene. The combimation works very well.

On my 2005 the seal is a hollow panel edge type seal.

I can confirm that! The price that they charged me was eye-watering but I don't recall what is was, only that I was shocked.

I just went out and measured mine. It is cut out of 20mm neoprene sheet. You could try https://www.rhnuttall.co.uk/sheeting/neoprene-sheet/. They probably only sell in bulk but you could ask if they can sell you an off cut piece.
