bloody awesome.
The butter melts, the taste combination is just right.
Alternatives include sandwiches made from tinned sardines in various sauces...mustard, chillie, tomato.
All the above were regular lunches for me in work.

Queued up to buy a kipper burger after the TT race. Was absolutely delicious

You know you are really old when you take up golf.

I'm with Worther's... age is a state of mind. My attitudes, sense of humour and politics are all roughly where they were when I was in my early 20s. This causes my kids to question my slightly infantile and none PC 1970s sense of humour!
I showed my son a Brunel University Rag Mag from the early 1970s. I thought it funny, he said it was sad, racist, sexist and pathetic.

The main difference is that I now have the financial means to indulge myself rather more, and my body shows me from time to time that it takes longer to recover from traumas than it used to. My ribs are slowly getting less painful.
I'm 68 next birthday, so lower mid range" amongst this community!.

I fully intend to keep active and mobile until the grim reaper calls, although I accept it may get harder as my joints age. Yesterday I hit all my health targets, including distance walked, hours in which I stood up snd time spent exercising. My blood pressure is where it should be, with a little help form the Pharmaceutical industry, I'm probably fitter after 15 months retirement than I ever was as a wage slave. Oh yes, I buy all the toys, so as well as a smart phone I use a watch to pay, plastic is SO old money.

I have never understood golf... it spoils a good walk in the country!

Go whenever you can - not when you have to. This advice in relation to toilets - wish my 6 year old grandson would heed this advice too!

WRONG!!!!
Had 18 holes this morning. 5 miles+ walking and add on hitting the ball. There are some old duffers who “play” golf but serious golf is a different game. I am one of the youngest in our seniors section, the oldest is 85 and he is spritely and a good golfer. I have no time for the stuck up duffers who talk a good game but ars a nuisance.
Rant over......

Or is it more gradual than that?

Oh, it's quite gradual. The signs are subtle and they include:

- You enjoy watching Midsummer Murders
- You think Volvos and Mazdas look quite fetching
- Corduroy and moleskin are preferred to denim
- Radio 4 takes the place of R1 & R1Xtra
- You look forward to staying in with a good book
- Young girls smile at you (because you remind them of their Dad)
- As mentioned earlier, you never pass a loo without having a "safety wee"

10 years ago I'd have laughed at the thought of any of these....

I seem to turn it up side down.

Started golfing in the early twenties - paused and came back in the early fourties - still no talent...
The older children get the less time for motoring because there is no need for taxi drives.
Much more time for cycling - that is my sport.

So I`m about to build a cycle rack for my four seater. Perhaps I can use it more often ...

Than it will be time to hit the 50;)
