its hard for me to relate to these prices.
When I emigrated to Australia in 1970, one could buy a brand new ford cortina for that sort of price, or a new MG 1100.
petrol was about 4/6pence a gallon and a hair cut 2 bob....

just remembered I also had books of Green shield stamps that I gave to my younger brother, and my overcoat to my eldest brother.......still have my anorak, never worn it over here, its become an heirloom I guess.

My servicing costs at Malvern for my 2009 Plus 4 have been as follows.
13/5/09 First Service £48.73
3/3/10 Full Service £432.14
8/3/11 Full Service £702.37 (inc brakes & sun visors)
carried out at 1014, 3848 and 5610 miles respectively.
Thus my total spend on first rate servicing which has kept the car in excellent fettle has been the cost of two cases of good Burgundy.
NB I can also recall those halcyon days when I used to put 4 gallons of Jet Thrift in my Austin Seven for £1 .

Still, allowing £70 for the visors (fitting, 4 screws, 5 minutes) that's £630 for servicing a very basic 4 cylinder RWD car that's only done under 6000 miles in 2 years. Why was there brake judder anyway, and shouldn't they have fixed it for free?

6 hours labour?

I hate to appear critical, but this does seem expensive.
