I have quite a few steering wheels as well. It is catchy. Leather is hard to pass up. The feel of the factory is the best but it is hard on the eyes for all the money we pay. My others collect dust as once I found the one I liked I have no desire to swap. BTW the 4 spokes are nice as you can see the gauges better. My final steering wheel is a Mota-Lita 4 spoke leather wrap. At one point I was trying to figure out who made the factory one as I was hoping to get something like it that looked like it fit the Morgan but no luck.

Seeing the gauges sure is nice, something Morgan didn’t think was necessary.

I can see the dials fine with the spokes at 2 ,6 & 10 as standard. I have a clock dash mounted centre in front of the driver. The car I originally test drove had wheel like Marmota's original post, I did not like the feel.

I think the best balance between look and grip might be the Moto-Lita Wood but THICK rim. It's an option and I've seing pictures. It doesn't look bad but it's clearly closer in thickness to the original leather one mounted by MMC.

Wood thick rim and leather gloves should work properly for a nice grip…

Anyway, about the look, it depends on the whole vehicle. I see M3W much "RAT" and sporty on which a Wood steering Wheel would look off-side.

It's curious to see that some 3 spokes steering wheels are turned 180º, with the spokes at 0-4-8, instead at 2-6-10 (which, in my honest opinion, is as it should be). And I thought that the reason why these owners turned 180º their steering wheel was precisely because the spoke at 2 (for LHD) or at 10 (for RHD) hides the gauges...

How can you turn 180º the steering wheel while it has three drills clearly positioned? Can you turn it using the boss? How it's done? Easy to do?

Regards

I did that and it worked well, easy to do and now you have a Mercedes logo instead of a Y.

Hi Marmote,

You also should consider what size to go for....could help with extra leg space if you go smaller. I am quite happy with my 12" steering wheel that the previous owner fitted, but my friend fitted a very small steering wheel to get more room for him....I think it is only like 9"!!

I like the feel and look of my steering wheel and I always drive with gloves so no problems with the grip!

Hi Swedewheeler! What size is yours? It looks like a thick Moto-Lita in 14", correct?

Hi Marmota!

Mota-Lita thick grip and 12".....Hence my tip that if you want more legroom a smaller steering wheel helps.

Congrats to your car being ordered...:-)

Cheers
