Well I was sent a pair of tanks to repair from one of the dealers....
After pressure testing to find the cracks/leaks. both in the mounts and in the tank body itself, the original IMO flimsy mounting brackets were cut off, and the original welds linished flat, large load spreading patches were then welded on to the tank body before fabricating new more substantial mounts from a far higher strength material , which were then welded in place

So one more "happy" customer to add to the cracked tank brigade. Fortunately no fuel leaks yet, and also something found during end of season servicing so should not lose quality road time. Still, I find Morgans design of gas tank mounting/support to be utterly ridiculous. Looks like you've caught it in time Bitsobrits. The cracks are no worse than the ones on my car before I addressed the issue. My recommendation would be to bond in reinforcing plates as described somewhere in the distant past on this thread. Oh, AND tighten your straps!
