Hannes,
I realize that your car is 2014 but this is related and others might echo my experience which is, when the red transponder in the key is at the top the car will always start but if it is at the bottom then it will sometimes start which sounds like the distance between transponder and lock is important.

meabh, my car is a 2011 production. (I am on the forum since 2014)

I have tried the keys with transponder up or down and unfortunately there is no difference.

My 2011 car is intermittent using one of it’s keys. The other key seems to have no issues.
Strange I know.

Update:
I started the car this morning - no problems (while the starter did not do anything last evening)
She is at my Morgan dealer at the moment.
Of course: starting there was no problem but a readout indicated immobilizer issues.

Presently the dashboard gets lowered to check all connections and the immobilizer ring at the key area.
Hopefully we catch the bug

Problem solved!

Heinz' diagnosis was right.
The sensor ring at the start keyhole had loosened. After fixing everything should work fine again.
Many thanks for all tips! They have helped to narrow down the problem and to solve it more quickly.

I'm glad it was so quick to fix, Hannes. Sometimes it's really the small and simple problems before you take half the car apart. I wish you a lot of fun with your 4/4 for the rest of the season. thumbs
