Inspired by Jon's much earlier posts relating to getting more cooler air into the 3.7 Roadster's air box, I've also cut a 4" hole in the box but then used a ducting elbow that came from Screwfix to help draw cool air from the side vents in the bonnet. A quick spray of matt black and I think it looks quite tidy. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2019/06/19/P1070208.md.jpg) I've left the original hole in the base of the box open, but I'm hoping that this - very cheap! - addition may improve things. Only a proper dyno test will confirm one way or the other whether there's any difference in performance, as I must say I can't notice any, but I just feel that anything's got to be better than the standard arrangement. Borrowed your idea sid. First person I showed it to suggested an angle on the rectangular inlet to better align with louvres. ![[Linked Image]](https://i.imgur.com/1KcAANc.jpg) Next plan is to somehow block off original air inlet route to reap full advantage of cool air. Richard, mine is still 'open' at the base, my reasoning was that if driving in heavy rain or a large splash from a pothole if sucked into the airbox scoop could drop out of the bottom without too much being drawn into & through the air filter

Button, you are right that a modern EFI always can balance air and fuel. But if the air is very hot it will dose less fuel to keep the balance of the mixture so the result means less power. If the air is colder the EFI will also keep the same balance but it will deliver more fuel to do so and you have more power. As far as I know, this applies at least to the partial load range. For full throttle one should adjust the ECU to the air volume and temperature.
I am only an interested layman and other TM members can explain this topic much better but in one point I am very sure, your your brain works totally very well and it is in best order:) I would think the same thing happens when a Morgan with EFI gains altitude. Doesn't the EFI self adjust for Barometric Pressure?

Yes, the EFI self adjusts with altitude. Living at 9000 feet and often driving mountain passes well over 10500 feet I can attest to this. I still have my adapted cold air intake system from behind the passenger wheel, as illustrated in a previous thread.

When I was a teenager in the norwegian coast I had a small speedboat with a 20 hp outboard. I remember I noticed that the boat was slightly faster in the cool evenings and nights, and even more so when I took the lid off the outboard while running. I had friends with similar boats, we were racing each other so it was easy to detect the increase in speed. So I do believe in delivering cold, dense air to the engine - and for reasons well explained here I do not have so much faith in the inverted louvre/trumpet system. I would like to try the "above the rad" approach, but the available space seems restricted. To those of you who has tried this, have you made some sort of scoop or have you just squeezed a tube in?

Reminds me of my first bike a Yamaha AS1, 125cc two stroke twin. Dropping the clutch from lights in cold weather it would lift the front wheel

The current trads have more space above the radiator than the cars with metal radiators.
The plastic radiator is mounted lower.

Spent some time looking at EFI systems this morning. Jeep gets fresh air in front next to rad. Toyota gets it in front of Driver side tire. Best as I can tell Corvette gets it from on top of rad. Looks like Morgan just tucks into any old place to get rid of it.
