I think this may be because not all owners notice this characteristic... It's much more obvious (read horrendous!) if you give it 'the beanz' up to the redline, followed by a quick gear change... Absolutely. Because it had been raining all day there was no way I was going to give it the beanz and in any case there was traffic both in front and behind. What I was unaware of at the time was that oil had been deposited onto the carriageway. Subsequent independent witness statements confirm. The Roadster was the only vehicle that went berserk in these conditions. As the saying goes “ do not try this at home ....”

I can't disagree with any of the points already raised. I went in to mine with open eyes, and well versed with the pitfalls, but the chance of a fully kitted out SSL front and rear suspension AND a Brooklands to boot, it was hard to resist.
It's a Jeckyll & Hyde character, a true Hot rod and can make the hairs on your arms raise with emotions. It's also very, very easy to scare yourself finding those limits but equally, a very rewarding experience to get it all right. The sound of the big V6 through sports exhausts is so emotive.
The rev hang issue is present with all of them. No-one has paid anyone to unlock the ECU and get some alternative mapping as far as I'm aware, so the issue isn't perceived to be so much of a problem, which may be why some highlight it, others dismiss it.
The car isn't inherently dangerous, but proves in a very big way exactly why ABS/Traction Control makes so much sense.

I don't know if this has been discussed yet, if so, I'm sorry. The Mustang with the 3.7 V6 was also available with manual gearbox. I have never read in any forum about a rev hang problem concerning this Mustang. Therefore I am wondering why only the Roadster is affected? Perhaps the ECU is "missing" some additional input like data to control ESC, ABS or more of this digital helpers which are are not present at the Roadster?

I found quite a few Mustang owners on US forums complaining about this same issue Heinz, one example here. There were some references to "fix's" but nothing definitive. I suspect the Ford 3.7 Mustang ECU firmware was only changed by MMC to remove aspects you refer to as not required, and so avoid fault codes being generated. The rev hang issue remained therefore.

I am sure it is not beyond "the whit of man" - to sort rev-hang??
I appreciate that is a throw away comment, but come on seriously....

It's been said several times previously all it would take is a few of you to get together and have a whip round to get the thing unlocked

Obviously there is an issue with this engine. Anyone know how many 3.7 Roadsters have come to grief as a result of ECU malfunction? Just curious.

There's talk on the Plus 6 Vs Plus 8 thread (drift !) about Krazy Horse possibly working on a solution Unfortunately Dan the technician at KH had been talking about a fix for some time, added to which he left KH about a month ago. Given speculation that 3.7 Roadster production run may wind down soon and no fix yet after seven years, I think a dealer fix unlikely.
