Have adopted Cain Poulter's suggestion of using a long old sock fed round the lower end of hub and top of rebound spring to remoce excess old grease. Held tight and pulled from side to side it removes the grease without smearing inside of disc.

I wonder what the boys in the local football club would think if I asked them for their old socks?

I would like to say asking for a friend, but here goes....

I've recently bought my first Morgan, a 2009 +4. It has the SSL suspension front and rear, and hardened chrome kingpins.
I'm now armed and dangerous with a Wanner grease gun, but wondering what grease to use?
An internet search suggests Red'N'Tacky, but the same search also states that it doesn't work with Bronze.
Apparently, the EP additives in R&T attack bronze, and I suspect it also has the phosphor Bronze Bushes.


Would Halfords Comma CV Lith-Moly be the correct grease to use?

Allon White last did the service in July 2022, so if anyone knows what grease they use, it would prevent me mixing the brand/grease specification.

Welcome Stephen, no such thing as a stupid question on here as we all learn together.

I have always used the Comma grease as you suggest and LM for the prop shaft spiders very sparingly.

I too have always used a CV Lith-Molly on the King Pins.

Be careful of excess grease getting on to the brake disks. I always wipe off the excess that is pushed out. Before I fitted a remote greasing kit (to make life easier when on longer tours), I always jacked the car up and put it on axle stands before greasing. Only takes a couple of minutes and makes the job a lot easier.

I've got it booked in with Brands Hatch Morgan for the remote kit. I'm still flexible, but intend to tour. Seems like a more convenient set up, from what I'm reading here on the forum.

All noted. Red'N'tacky had been my first choice, but not really understanding how it will work or interact with bronze bushes, all be it phosphor bronze bushes, CV Lith-Molly looks like the safer option.
Potentially, all the above is baloney as the information on Red'N'Tacky and bronze was google derived, I have no knowledge or experience either way.
