Interesting if that resets the ECU on S1's. On S4's to reboot the system is a lengthy process with special 'shorting' plug

Mines the same as Simon has suggested. So what's a shorting plug?

I've circled the location of the switch on the Aero 8 S2-S4 (including Aeromax and SS); I assume it is in roughly the same place on the S1.

Inside the S3/4 fusebox there is an off white plug connector (flat rectangular shape) You disconect it and plug in the shorting plug (my name for it) and then go through the CAM reboot process.

The switch Simon is referring to disconnects the battery from the system (useful if you dont use the car everyday as battery will go flat). When you turn it back on by pushing the black piece back in, you need to reset using the drivers windo switch.

Not the same as clearing and rebooting the system, which MAY be what is needed for the S1 problem described. Your local Morgan garage should have a 2 page instruction plus the shorting plug in their workshop which explains the full procedure. I have my own which I keep in the car.

Ian, according to the factory, who are the ones that told me about the switch reset, it does in fact reset the ECU/Canbus system. It may not 'wipe the memory' but it most definitely is the solution the factory recommended to clear the problems caused when the battery runs flat (ie. indicators not working, A/C fan not running, Bulb Failure light, etc)

Simon, you're right about the switch reset for when battery is flat or disconnected (Dealers explain this at delivery) but the problems in the original post seemed to affect everything controlled on the steering binnacle, wipers, lights, etc which has been one of the S4 electrical issues.

I've just looked at the instructions and the thing I call the shorting plug is in fact called the VBC shorting plug and the instructions sheet is titled 'Instruction to Re-Boot System'

Ian, this is exactly the fault I suffered with when the battery ran down (with an accompanied message of 'Bulb Failure' (none of which had failed)) and the factory gave the advice to do the process I stated above to reset the ECU/Canbus.

I am certainly not an engineer, so I don't understand the intricacies of the process; however, the head of service and repairs for Morgan gave me advice I passed on and it certainly worked for me (on more than one occasion).

The error Taffy described was identical to the problem which the reset cured.

As for Dealers explaining the process at delivery, you must have had a better handover than I experienced because I certainly didn't get that information.

I just hope Taffy's issue is an easy cure and not more in-depth as was suggested earlier in the thread.

Funnily enough, my dealer didn't expect I would have problems with the battery going flat given the daily use (although it has gone flat when left at the airport for a week!).
