Most of you will know that Phil Bleazey has been working tirelessly over the past few years to develop modifications to make the Centa Drive coupling more reliable and easier to service. After many iterations, he has arrived at a solution for the inserts, made of a high temperature material by Polybush. These appear to be working well, but it now seems that Polybush have taken it upon themselves to market the inserts directly.

This is completely unauthorized by Phil and in my view a disgraceful betrayal of the client/supplier relationship. In addition, Phil hand-modifies each insert before use, so if you fit the items as supplied direct by Polybush YOU WILL HAVE PROBLEMS!

Therefore, the advice is to buy direct from Phil and avoid direct purchasing from Polybush at all costs.

Hi Andy,
Just so everyone knows, several weeks ago Polybush sent an e-mail to the MTWC website PR dept which I monitor and deal with.
In the e-mail they said they were manufacturers of these bushes with no mention of Phil. I rang the guy at Polybush who sent the e-mail to see what was going on. He had no idea of the complexities of fitting these bushes and was not even aware that the engine had to come out to do this.
He said he wanted to advertise in the Bulletin their Poly Bushes, I declined that he could do this.( Phil already advertises his services there)
After letting him give out his spiel I mentioned Phil Bleazey. He stopped and said " Oh you know him do you?"
I then went on to tell him that it was wrong to be trying to cut Phil out like this and told him I would be speaking to Phil.
I called Phil immediately afterwards and filled him in on the conversation.
I have not heard any more since from PolyBush but this way of behaving is shabby to say the least.
I agree with Andy, this is not a good way to do business, avoid them, if you want to just buy the bushes, buy from Phil. It was his idea, his forward thinking that came up with the modification in the first place.
Ian
Incidentally my M3W is going up to Cumbria in November to have the mods done.

Disgracefull behavior - I agree totally with Andy and Ian above.

It goes without saying these inserts which Phil has developed are a part ( arguably a small part ) of his complete compensator upgrade offering - simply fitting them in place of the stock inserts will achieve very little - you need the complete upgrade for them to become truly effective.
For example, the lug on each insert in the above picture is for removing the insert via the new access hole in the compensator bell housing which is created as part of the upgrade - and is not in the standard housing.
The complete upgrade also includes further detailed changes.
So doing so misses these new inserts primary purpose of being exchangeable in situ without having to remove the engine.

Thanks for your support guys. I personally think that the most important aspect of this is that someone might buy an item which will cause problems if not modified ( by me) before fitting. I would hate to think that someone might have to have their engine out a second time to put things back as they were.

I just ordered the stock inserts to replace the originals (not that I feel anything wrong, but the clutch needs work and the engine will have to come out for it, so … ) but I have to say the only reason for this is that I am too far away from Phil Bleazey to be able to have my car updated by him,
Regardless of distance, I have followed and read with interest both his blog and also the many posts on here about his work. And I find this attitude by Polybush disgusting to say the least (frankly I'm thinking dishonest). Phil I do hope you are able to stand your ground and defend your rights, but I do think that with the M3W world as small as it is they (polybush) won't gain much from this attitude. Hopefully they'll lose even.

Amazing behaviour. One imagines some non-engineering type in their marketing department getting ahead of themselves... and hopefully back to making the tea now! smile

I have the originals in mine, but always being in defence of the hobbyist this is abhorrent and detestable behavior. Shame on that supplier, will avoid.

Let's hope so. I would also think that anyone fanatical enough about their M3W would search here first for insights.
What Polybush did was unethical.
But thanks to Phil for yet another brilliant idea and solution!
