Are these from Emil? We can get these parts in the UK, albeit with clear lenses for £23 and some pence each, from side lightsHow much room do you have under the fenders?

No, not from Emil, but he is where I saw them first. https://www.billscustomcycles.com/panhead/fender-lightThis is my source. I have not measured the clearance but I can get my fingers under there so closely trimmed mounting bolts loctited in place and a flat cable should work fine. Emil just used a bed of silicone to hold and protect the cable but I see no reason why a thin aluminum strip bedded into the silcone to further protect the cable might be possible but maybe overkill. The bonus for the fender lamps is that it makes fender location while driving more noticeable for us shorter drivers.

Thank you John, and yes it makes me nervous when I cut into expensive things.
I could feel the wooden frame behind the gas cap fill neck and I did not want to drill into that and it hard to be far enough forward to not interfere with the gas cap.
Masking painters tape, measure and mark, tap a starting point into the surface, drill small pilot hole, drill larger hole to fit the 3/8” lamp stalk, file edges to allow a tight slip fit, deburr, paint the raw edges and let dry (hair dryer helps), I used a rubber grommet and cut it in half for the gasket, slide lamp in and put a stainless steel fender washer on the underside and mounting nut with lock washer tighten from below and hook wiring to MMC unused receptacle wiring.
When something looks like it belongs in that location and is a useful safety item then I am inclined to do it. The last lighting project will be fender lamps tied to the turn signal circuit. That will involve drilling into the fenders (mudguards).
This is very cool! Just FYI to all though, it will preclude the fitment of new style a MMC luggage rack.

It would be interesting to see the interference and if the rack could be modified. Since I have zero interest in a rack I am not particularly worried about it but it is a valid point.
Can you open the gas cap with the luggage rack installed or do you have to remove it to fill the tank? Never mind, I see there is a hoop in the rack for the gas cap.
What if the luggage rack was fastened on both sides of each roll hoop? Then there could be a space for the third lamp.

the biggest drawback to the rack is that I generally mount any luggage rearward so I do not have to remove it to fill the tank (or remove the luggage). Also, not that the boot has a lot of space, but the rack must come off to access that.
