I played at my pinnacle of fitness for UCL 4ths & BBC 3rds (I knew someone at the beeb & ended up with these old guys in borrowed kit). I can only admire the skill of those teams at the World Cup, but I bet they don't have a fiver in their boots for a pre or post match beer.

So Wales is better at thugby than Australia. I am surprised to hear that Japan is into thugby, but then I don't follow it. To adjust a common saying "Rugby a thugs game played by gentlemen" I am really enjoying this World Cup, its fantastic to see the second tier countries performing so well. So pleased Wales beat OZ, it now means almost certainly that England will meet Australia in a quarter final and that will be an immense game with Australia looking for revenge. Pundits still backing South Africa but I wouldn't bet against the AB's myself. Ireland, come on Niall what's happened to Ireland?

Too bl**dy cocky - we thought we could win against Japan without too much bother - perhaps a good wake up experience - don’t think you’ll see that for the rest of the competition,though- reckon The boss gave them a good talking to!!!!

Jamie Joseph said after the game that Japan had been preparing for the match for the last two years, whilst Ireland had been preparing since last Monday.

Lovely Tweet from Mark Steel today: I really am trying to get interested in the rugby world cup, but most matches seem to end with scores like South Africa 3,475 Colony of Puffins 3

Good to see Jack back on the pitch making a difference and try scoring after his recent injuries and operation, a pity the Argies shot themselves in the foot at 17 minutes in though with a Red card. Well done England.

Well done England. Didn't watch it after the red card. You cannot play a team like England with 14 men and hope to win. Only disappointment was Nigel Owens was reffing I do wonder what Rugby is turning into and I do know players safety is paramount.

Nigel Owens is definitely the best ref there is! Don’t understand why he would engender any disappointment
