By the way about fuel economy, does someone know if a 2016 Plus 4 GDI can run without damage on 95e10 (10% ethanol) or if there is some tubing or the pump to change ?

It would have been designed I guess for 10% EtOH but I would avoid it as the fuel deteriorates so fast.

From memory, I think all Ford engines post '04 were designed to be ok with ethanol mix, so as modern as 2016 should be fine, but as JohnV6 says it does deteriorate in the tank & has a reputation for absorbing water

Yes, you're right the ti-vct is a flexi-fuel engine but what is strange is that the Plus 4 GDI is not on the official Belgium site for the car compliant with 95e10...
So I was thinking that something in the fuel system, like the pump or some rubber tubing may be reluctant to 10% ethanol.

This fuel don't age well but if you plan to empty the tank in the week even the day it's not far for 12 € less to fill the tank which leave some funding for a pit stop on the trip wine

The best I have done so far open roof with CS remaped ecu, sport exhaust manifold and catalyst (but standard silencer) on super98 is 7,4/100km which is 31,8 miles per gallon...ok..i love to push the pretty little right pedal drive

You write, „the Plus 4 GDI is not on the official Belgium site for the car compliant with 95e10...“
Just a guess from me, this engine is not listed because it is not used in any European Ford. But since it is an engine for the US market, it should get along very well with E10. Nevertheless I would prefer E5 if it is available.

On Belgium site they just put the car brand, the model and the year, not the engine it-self it's why I am asking if there is something between the tank and the engine that don't support more than 5% ethanol in the fuel... I don't really want to get small rubber part in the hight pressure pump or the injectors. swear
I love to work on car, but not at this point laugh2

Folks - Is there any way one can alter the mixture of a gdi Plus4 -- mine is definitely running rich as the exhaust is a very solid black colour. the car says I am getting circa 32mpg which is surely awful!! even more so as the budget here has just put a carbon tax on fuel!!!

Welcome to my world Robbie.

In a week or so I should know if the Clubsport flash has improved things. Steve T is now seeing over 40.

Up to now I've been getting 32, and a black sooty tailpipe.

What baffles me though is that the sensor before the cat had a smooth grey deposit whereas the one after was black and sooty. Not what I expected. There's no mixture adjustment....

The mapping for the GDI engine is very complex stuff and absolutely not something that can be undertaken by a "tuner". As far as I can see from the various reports the original mapping was not really very good for the Morgan application. Everyone who has had the later mapping installed seems to be very happy with the results. This leads me to believe that it should be performed on all cars with the earlier mapping (or calibration).

I am not clear if there are two separate calibrations that can be installed: one for the standard set up and a different one to be used with the sports exhaust system.

Reading all post about Plus 4 GDI ecu remap, average miles per gallon and exhaust color, I have now some doubts...
Is there a legacy and a new ClubSport remap or only one remap??? confused2
