For all rally fans - I just received the sad news that Andrew Cowan died in hospital on Tuesday. He is probably best remembered for his victory (along with Brian Coyle and Colin Malkin) on the original London to Sydney Marathon driving a Hillman Hunter, but he also had a long and illustrious career driving Rootes products and Mitsubishis and was Mitsubishi Team manager for a number of years.

Oh that's sad news, but what a career. I was 16 years old when he won the 1968 London-Sydney in that Hillman Hunter and was an avid follower. He did so much more, including in Australia, winning the Southern Cross rally several times.
