Yes, MMC should be better, and no, there is not an easily obtainable substitute for the 'two big cylinders, vintage feel, 3 wheel motoring experience' M3W route. Although the Pembleton sure seems to fit that gap now...

I actually suggested that the buyer of my M3W look at a Vanderhall (since, as a motorcycle, one thing he wanted was to not wait for a Ferry boat here in Seattle) but he was bitten by the "two big cylinders' bug and is enjoying it greatly now, I may add.

3GS, I have been shunted into standard vehicle lanes on the ferry from Fauntleroy to Southworth because “ it is as wide as a car”. Funny, since for bridge tolls they charge a motorcycle toll and it costs more than a car. They, WSDOT, are only out to gouge you for monies and not use their brains when it comes to labels.

The Vanderhall sure is an alternative and a nicer looking one that Polaris imho.

If you get into the fine print on the WSDOT web site, in the WA Ferry fare details, I've found where any 3 wheeled vehicle (including 2 wheeled motorcycles with a side car) should pay the smallest car price but we load with the motorcycles. It's not the $ I mind, I just don't want to wait/load with the cars. PM me if you've been made to load with the cars, as we should say on top of this to preserve our priority in the queue.

I sincerely wish to thank you all for your input , although I must admit that in my circumstances , I am a bit scared to take the plunge also considering my advanced age. 67. I feel very obliged for your advice as this way I can make a better assessment. I have had a look at all the other three wheelers which were mentioned but for me there is only one that can give me the thrill and without Doubt that is the Morgan3. I have just stopped using my bikes following an accident where I skidded, and this Morgan is the only thing that could come close to the thrill and torque of a powerful bike which I am used to ride. My 4/4 is fun but lacks the acceleration.
My dream has still not faded away.

The M3W is one of (if not the) most fun automobiles going and mine puts a smile on my face every time I reach for the keys. Even popping round to the shops is an event and the thriving, active M3W community means you'll soon get swept up in larger events and adventures.

67 is no barrier to having one of these, there are many owners in their 60s, 70s and even 80s.

The nature of these forums is to focus on the problems which can be exacerbated by non owners voicing negative opinions. Sure there have been and still are issues with these but after 6 years and 100s of thousands of miles of shared experience on TM you will have a superb source of informed help and advice.

Don't be afraid of an early car which has been used and upgraded - my 2013 has over 30k miles and many on here are into the 20k plus. We regularly use these cars for European (and even antipodean) tours of thousands of miles at a go.

I take the view one can sit around and think "what if" or "I wish" or get on and go for it.

At 73 yrs young, a disabled combat veteran, I must mirror the words of Red Leader. It is undoubtedly the most fun machine I have driven, except maybe a tank.

Howdy All....new to TM, recently bitten by the Morgan bug, the M3W one to be exact. Am advised the best (and only) cure is to own one. Am glad to see there are some folks in/around Seattle that are also afflicted ...and have taken the cure. Given the research I've done, and opinions of current and former owners, I might think the best course of action would be to buy a new/newer one.
