Hi @All,

the search gave me no result, so i ask a funny question: i m missing a trunk for the side doors, because i ve got a spare wheel at the back of my 2009 Roadster. Is there anyone or are there any spare parts, so i could switch to a trunk for side doors and park my spare wheel at home?

Sorry not to fully understand your request Frank.... IF you are looking for a rack that provides side-screen storage, perhaps this might suit..?

Sorry for my bad english. I think about putting the spare wheel complete off, closing the hole in the alloy, opening a new hole back the seats, to create a new "tray fold" for the side screens. I always thougt, that some cars, which have no spare wheel, are having this tray included?

Hi Frank,

The classic Morgans are produced ex works either with or without spare wheel. With a spare wheel, the side doors are stowed on the luggage carrier (they have their own compartment for this). See Link provided by Luddite.

Alternatively, the side windows can be stowed behind the seats, provided that the seats are not pushed all the way back (is a question of body size).

The Morgans without spare wheel have a compartment for the side doors and a complete different back panel (and different frames underneath).

To install such a compartment in a Morgan, which originally had a spare wheel, would mean a complete conversion of the rear. I don't know of any case where someone would have done that.

And here am I thinking that I would like to open up the back of my Roadster Sport and putting a removable louvered panel there as per my P4. At least then I can get to the fuel pipe.

Spookily I have just done finished this job on Possum (the 2014 exGDI turbo Plus 4). It's quite easy. Simply remove the spare wheel, the bracket that holds it and the ghastly "cyclops" high level brake light if you have not junked that already. Order a louvred aluminium spare wheel panel from VSM Malvern. Speak to Jeff -- you need to tell him the size of your hole (perhaps I should re-phrase that!). I then made up two alloy brackets with rivnuts for the bottom sides of the panel which comes fitted with a clip on the top edge. The cover needs a rubber U bead to prevent metal to metal paint damage. I then re-fitted the high level brake light. Since I've just finished mine it's still in the raw ally and I haven't decided to paint it (royal ivory or perhaps satin black) or just leave it. I shall only cart around the extra weight of a spare wheel when going on overseas trips or when I need to use the wheel to strap a case to. A couple of Finelec style pressure/sealer cans will have to suffice otherwise. If the image I've tried to attach above does not come out I'll put one in the photo forum. Griffo: Looks good, did you create the new trunk space as I believe this is the main issue?

No I think that would be a much bigger job because of the frame as per Michael's pictures. In any case I dont want to lose the option of re-fitting the spare wheel if at some point I need to use the luggage rack and a suitcase. The other
problem is that, with a louvred wheel cover, the trunk space would suffer from the wet unless it was completly sealed. My main motive was to reduce weight -- like Colin Chapman I hate excess weight in a car.

Re: not carrying a spare wheel. I have used Bike Seal. They are very helpful. Speak to Tracy or Dale.
