Jeez K, while admiring your restoration outcomes it seems to me that you will be looking to compete in Concours next... After all the effort you might just become too precious about it to make use of it.. (-: I suspect that was one of the drivers in Kevin, the restorer of my +8, deciding to sell it all those years ago..?

Have no fear Luddite ..... there's more than enough rough edges and retained 'character' to make sure I never go within a mile of a concours judge (or anyone with half-decent eyesight either!! 🙂) ..... most definitely a 'user' not a 'looker' ..... whoever said the camera never lies was, ermmm, lying! 😁

I will have to be staunch in the face of slashing horizontal rain and already getting dark by 4.00pm and get the last of it done in a timely manner ... hopefully there will be some of those unexpectedly lovely winter days so I can get out in it with some enjoyment before too much longer!

Good progress Keith, considering the weather here today, what kind of condition is the hood in?

Gordon ... the hood is somewhat 'rustic' .... but having been into bikes all our lives we have low expectations when it comes to comfort ... have been chatting to Allon White down at Cranfield and they seem to think they can knock up a similar hood to the Paris/Pekin car previously discussed for a price Mrs Image is happy to pay in order to avoid me volunteering her to do the job .... once the car hits the road I'll arrange a mutually agreeable date to drop the car off for a week (in view of the distance we'll probably drop down on the train to London from Cranfield for the duration and OD on Art Galleries, picking the car back up on the way home 🙂)

The red and black comes via the last owner who competed it .... the car has done Sporting Car Trials and Hillclimbs all its life .... I believe the car was all red when it was born and I guess it sprouted black wings as an easy tidy up from some barrier-rash sometime in its life (red is notoriously hard to match so repainting black wings is much easier) ... got to know the car with this colour scheme and like the old-timey look of the two-tone paint job so kept it ... something a bit different.

Onwards and Upwards .... steadily getting more car-like 🙂

Rear mudguards are in hand so it's looking promising for spring drives. Was dreading fitting the bonnet (visions of staggering about and managing to scratch every panel on the car! 🙂 ) .... and in the end it went on easily.

The red is much 'red-er' in real life but the lighting makes it look a bit 'tomato'
