Winter is here and I am already looking forward to spring and a new trip somewhere throughout Europe in our Roadster S1. Since May this year the car has covered more than 10000kms and, well, it is reliable. However, there are some annoying issues- Error codes : P0720- output speed sensor- circuit error. I deleted the code through my EOBD reader and the assisting app on my iPhone. I have had this error warning a couple of years ago but no running problems accompanied by this warning. It is obviously triggered if I drive at speed in excess of 130km/h on motorways for an extended period of time. I hate heavy traffic motorways and always try to avoid them, but sometimes..
Then there are the P0132 -O2 sensor-Circuit High Voltage (Bank 1 Sensor 1) and the P0152-O2 sensor- Circuit High Voltage (Bank 2 Sensor 1). I relate these error codes to driving in heavy rain for two days in a row last May. These warnings caused a noticeable rough running at idle, and obviously an increased fuel consumption. Again I deleted the codes and things went back to normal after a while when the rain stopped.
Late this summer the car has begun stopping when cold. A typical situation when shifting down for a roundabout/crossroad and releasing the clutch. The the engine stops. This keeps on for between 5 to 10minutes until the operating temperature has reached normal. Now the engine manages to continue running when releasing the clutch, but rather reluctantly as the rev counter drops to somewhere between stop and normal idle before it regains normal idle revs. This has not caused the warning lamp to lit up, but on checking with the EOBD reader the phone-app shows: P1000, Ford:Mass air flow (MAP) sensor-circuit intermittent. So, I replaced the MAP sensor with a new one but this did not cure the problem.
Now I am a little puzzled an not sure what to do further on. Dear Dave W. and other Roadster S1 owners- have any of you had similar issues like listed above, and do you have any suggestions what can be done ? I am very thankful for any replies

I don't know if the S1 has a stepper motor or an equivalent, but on my +8 when I had similar issues it was a sticky Stepper Motor?

There was a good article in a german classic magazine.

The most time there are not real sensor problems. The most time there is a problem in the wires. As you write your problem starts when it rains. That's the point.

I think you must have look for two points: are the conectors okay? Change them against wterproofed ones (the Harley "deutsch connectors are great) and: look if there are earthing points that shows rust. Not only the wellknown mainpoints, most are the smaller points the problem.

Check the earths by dismantling & cleaning. Damp proof the high voltage leads.
Check for leaking exhaust manifolds.
Use good quality petrol.

I've had to clean my MAF sensor once when idle became lumpy, it was coated in what I assume was the oil from the K&N, so I reverted to the standard filter.

Otherwise (touch wood), I've had no error codes.

I would also recommend checking the plugs of the MAF sensor, the throttle body and other open plugs that can get wet. Pull off and clean the plugs with contact spray and let dry. Plugs that you have often removed can get worse. I carefully squeezed the contacts of the MAF sensor and throttle body plugs together again with a very small screwdriver.

Thank you all for your contributions. Yes, I have checked all accessable connectors. They are all very clean inside with good seal. I have also added silicone grease to all connector gaskets.

My wife and I went on a cruise last year in the fiords . My best mate asked me to go for him before he died he said he wanted to see the place through my eyes odd thing to ask but he only had a few days left the first night we found a comfy spot to relax on the ship and who should walk in but a mog friend from Manchester its a SMALL WORLD he has a 1950s flat rad twin spare wheels . On several stops we came across mogs by themselves and groups of them inc. the odd ones from England . Yes I know mog owners are mad at one place the friend shot away to see a mog and ran through a tunnel with no pathway the silly ! could have got knocked down either way .Stood for a good while exchanging ideas etc whenever we could our wives looking in the shops. . While standing at the ships reception after midnight waiting for a DVD of the cruise . A lady stunningly dressed walked up chatted then got hold of me for a snog . That was a surprise and walked off . Must be the Geordie charm .BEAT THAT ONE DEAN.
