Are your Avon’s the oem or did you choose them as a replacement?

The reason I ask is that I am going to get my front wheels powder coated and that means dismounting the tires. Why put back an inferior tire if indeed they are crappy when it gets real wet on the road?

They are OEM, I will probably have to have new tires this coming summer.

I know there is lots of discussion regarding what tire to go with but I've been happy with the Avons, I suppose it depends on what is available.

There are a whole lot available but you seem happy so that answers my question, thank you.

By looking at the photos you have posted I can see that you have tried a lot of tires and it is nice to hear you think the Avon’s are the way to go.

Thanks.

I find the Blockleys very much better than the OEM Avons and in the UK they are all of £1 dearer.

They give a more secure feel in both dry and wet, more grip, less squealing and last longer.

I had the Avons for the first 7,200 miles and since then have done over 23,000 miles on Blockleys. I recently drove a new M3W on Avons and in both dry and damp conditions the front end felt looser with more understeer.
