I read an interesting trade article on Tyres the other day...
In 1997 just 19 tyre sizes accounted for 90% of common car tyres
Today it's 120, plus another 1,030 to fill the remaining 10%, apparently it's a logistical nightmare for the likes of Kwik bodge, oops Fit

During my time in "The Great? Republic to the West" we had one "green" tyre which was cured in 56 different mould patterns for the private brand market (Sears etc.)

Ran Vredestein winter tyres on Range Rovers for over 10 years all year round ….never had a problem and wear well.

Happy with them on my 4/4, but then it doesn't quite have +8 performance Yea the 4/4 is quicker than at least My +8 Bitsa and I have over 200 HP. It is only over 85 MPH that I am quicker than a 4/4.

Plenty of tyre test sites, www.tyrereviews.co.uk seem to bring together test from various sources.

Well the vredestein sprint classics are now fitted. They look good Road holding seems adequate Good through standing water Hardly any tyre noise Steering lighter But a big but they tend to lock up/slide on heavy braking (ie emergency stop) I will be careful near the limits on handling as usually this trait may mean limited grip. So no where near the grip of the Avons but a lot better in standing water.

Your tyres may have had mould lubricant applied before curing to make them easier to get out of the mould and this would explain the tendency to lock up. This will wear off quite quickly. I have used Sprint Classics in competition, wet and dry and never had that problem.

I always bed new tyres in for a hundred plus miles. The only time I've had TTracs lock was when an oncoming idiot (probably on the phone - ladder on roofrack of estate car) decided to make a right turn across my path.
