It is sad when something old - looks as though it is coming to an end. However, Morgan MUST move forward and their Dealer network, must be able to cope with the CX vehicles.

Just being realistic...... tumbleweed

Was very sad when I heard this news a week ago.

Bought my first Morgan from Life’s, who said I was not just buying a car but a way of life. They were not wrong.

Cannot speak highly enough of both Dave and Matty who have gone the extra mile during my Morgan ownership.

Always friendly and helpful.

Top team.

Chris

Yes very sad to hear the news

I’ve got my Mog booked in for a service and MOT next week so I’ll have a chat to Dave

He’s currently away on hols so Doug and Matty are holding the fort

As I understand it Matty will continue Morgan servicing and the workshop side of things in Banks (just outside Southport) but the Morgan sales side of things will be dormant from end of December

Very sad news as Lifes are one of the proper old school dealers, didn't they give up new car sales a couple of years ago, due to MMC order quotas ?

Yes it was when Kanga (DeRoos) imposed the new car quotas on dealers

They are still an official service agent and I’m guessing that might still continue at the new address under Matty’s supervision

Very sad to see another link with the old days disappear (a bit like Duggie's closing some ten or so year's ago.)

Dave always sponsored the windscreen sticker used for the annual MOG event - I have had a look in my memorabilia drawer and found the one for MOG2000 which shows 'Morgan & LIfes 74 years together'.

I guess the one for this year's event would have quoted '93 years together'. A pity they couldn't hold on for another seven years (maybe they would have got a telegram from the Queen!)

Just to confirm Stewart's comments, I have received the following directly from Dave:
'Just to clarify, Lifes Motors is not closing down – it is moving premises ( Fifteen minutes away) & is under new ownership, Matty. It will still be called Lifes Motors, and Matty will be concentrating on Morgan servicing, upgrades etc. but not so much with car sales at the moment. If you could spread the word about this, that would be great.'

A sad sign of the times, it seems. I visited Life's a couple of times as a teen, when my dad was stationed in Chester (as an aside, his office was in the old Brigade Headquarters in the castle, overlooking the river and the Grosvenor bridge... a step up from the usual army garrison digs). In fact, I have a feeling the first time I was ever allowed to drive the car was on a blast up to Southport for a service, relatively soon after I'd passed my test.

The car was supplied by John Dangerfield of Bristol. Another old-school dealer that went the way of all things some time ago. Still have the enamel Dangerfields badge on the back of the car, though.

Had a super morning yesterday chatting to everyone at Lifes while my Mog was in for its annual service and MOT. Andy Chandler who worked there until earlier this year popped in as well in his 4 Seater Roadster which was great.

It is sad that Lifes Motors as I've known it for so many years won't be the same and I shall greatly miss chatting to Dave about all things Morgan and having a nosey around all the Mogs for sale and being renovated

The great news is that Matty is continuing as Lifes Motors with the same phone number for all Morgan servicing, upgrades and parts etc. Matty is a great mechanic and knows Morgans inside out over many years of experience. It's just the second hand Morgan sales side that will be dormant as Dave is semi retiring and developing the old Lifes showroom and workshop

The new workshop will be in Banks, North West of Southport centre and about 10 minutes closer to my home which is a bonus
