You're going with the Doors, but ignoring Talking Heads for the original comment...!?

You have almost as good a collection of offcuts, and old rubbish in your garage as I have. The car only just fits! Cant stand those folks whose garage is like an operating theatre.

Anyway, good for you replacing the covers. You have learned more than you think there, because all the greasy bits are pretty near as simple to take apart. The key is to do so slowly, methodically and ( if your memory is as geriatric as mine) taking phone photos at every stage so you know how to put them back again. So you can now try simple jobs like brake pads and oil changes and thermostats and the like with some confidence. Go to it!

Much appreciated Howard; the constant photos are the most useful tip of course.
Glad you like the collection, all invaluable treasures...

I wonder if a similar cam cover would be available for the Sigma engine... it's bloody nice.

So no bits left over, no weird sounds and no apparent leeks, and I seem to have got away with it!
Whilst not to everyone's taste, and obviously not stock, for me the aesthetics of it seem to fit the car and its heritage better all round.......

Well hello.....

That's tasty, love the small badges, were they lapel pins? Nice braided hoses too....

The cam cover came from John Redmond: http://jrcast.com/
This comes with certain caveats; it took weeks and weeks, with all sorts of progressively more random excuses. It didn't come with a filler cap as I was told, and then through a series of phone calls found that it had been cast with a Honda filler cap fit, don't ask why....
Then, rather than the connected spout for the breather hose, the cover had been drilled and tapped with a 1/4" thread. This requires a 1/4" to 3/4" hose tail, which was tricky to find.
It comes in the metal and though it's not what I would call rough as a casting, required a couple of hours sanding to look good at a reasonable viewing distance, and that's after it was ceramic coated by Flying Tiger Coatings, who also had coated the sports manifold and are great.
You'd have to ask John if he does a Sigma cover, but expect something of a journey with it...... Good luck.....
