Not sure where to post this one. I just saw my copy of Robbie Coltrane programme on the Supercharger. It has got me thinking about Ford Crossflows and superchargers. I have heard of a Plus 8 being supercharged but has anyone/or can it be done of putting a supercharger on a 1600 Ford Crossflow. Not that I'm thinking of it as I have twin 40s Webbers on mine. This question is just for fun!

I had a Shorrocks supercharger fitted to the 1300 crossflow on my Escort Sport back in the early 70's. A big SU fed it. I remember it seizing on the A40 after I had fitted the recommended slightly larger oil feed metering pin following running in. It was replaced without issue with a recommendation to leave the running in pin there. Got home fine with seized unit although limited top speed. Performance was at least equal to Mexico and leaving MGB's behind. Following some bodywork damage, I remember quickly removing it before the insurance accessor turned up

Ford crossflows have been known for pushing out oil when uprated in bhp and a supercharger would put strain on the valves and seals . Unless its done by a well known engine builder who could warranty it .

Sure it will go like S of a stainless shovel but you will need an appetite for rebuilding engines as well. There are far easier routes to even better reliable performance.

I think a low boost supercharger would be fantastic on a Duratec 2 litre

Why not fit the latest 250 bhp Ecoboost two litre engine - like wot I did? Doubles the power and the torque of the gutless n/a gdi motor.
