Alistair,
I haven´t imported a used car myself. The specialties of used car imports to Germany are, as far as I know:
The V5 must be presented to the German authorities,
taxes and duties do NOT have to be paid in Germany, if the car is older than 6 months AND has more than 6.000 kms.
The headlights must be replaced. Speedo should already have mph and kph scale, right?
The car has to be checked by the TÜV (equivalent to MOT)
And that´s about it.

A good website to offer cars here ist

www.mobile.de and www.autoscout24.de

Good luck,
Andy

My previous car went off privately to Belgium last month. I didn't have to do anything specific - I don't know if it's different for other countries though. All I needed was a bill of sale (which you can do on the day, obviously), a certificate of conformity, and the V5 for the car.

I also only accepted cash, not a cheque or a banker's draft, more for my own safety rather than anything else.

Just in case anyone should read this thread and wonder if the car is still for sale - it has been withdrawn due to unforseen circumstances. frown

It will probably go up for sale again in spring/summer but at this point it has been withdrawn.

Hi Alistair,

We spoke when you originally put your Aero up for sale on Piston Heads...did you eventually sell the car ? (I note your last comment that stated it was withdrawn from sale but it might be re-advertised)

Neil
