When I took over my M3W the tip of the ignition key had broken off inside the barrel of the lock. This isn't a problem when using the damaged key but I'm concerned that a) I might loose or damage that key (so would have to cut a bit off the spare) or b) the broken off tip may move and jam the lock mechanism. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I might 'rescue' the tip, alternatively has anyone had cause to remove the barrel of the lock as necessary to either shake out the piece(s) or fit a replacement? Comments and suggestions welcome!

Another thought would be to eliminate the wheel lock and the keyed ignition altogether and then you would not have to carry keys but just remember the sequence of hidden switches to turn ignition on and off.

I suspect it is a Puegeot locking system.

Try a 2" length of 18 gauge piano wire magnetized by touching the open end with a permanent magnet and very gently teasing out the broken piece of key. It might work - Just a thought.

There is a tool especially for this situation. It is a thin sliver of metal with half an arrow head at the end. It's possible to insert this and hook the piece out.

Farmer Giles, do you have any idea on how the key was broken like that? Was it the original Morgan Key?

And that brings up, how do you get a new MMC key?

Thanks everybody for your suggestions, I'll give them all a try. Yes, it was the original key but I have no idea how it was damaged. And yes, it is apparently a Peugeot lock and another member was kind enough to obtain a key blank for cutting when extraction is completed.
