Yes Zuffenhausen meets Seatle for a joint venture of a flying electric car/plane, this should be interesting to follow - I'll bet they don't call it a 737..

I can't see it myself. It is a great dream but given the adage that "anything that can go wrong will go wrong" I think the safety risks of having a heap of these things buzzing around would be far to dangerous to allow. Imagine a collision of two at 500 ft over a crowded city square.

I am of the same mind on this I can't see it happening in or around any cities the risks are far too high and at present all aircraft are banned from flying low over our cities for very good reasons.
We saw and photographed this Dutch petrol exhibit at FOS which has actually flown (not at Goodwood), it is pusher prop driven with folding blades and my first thought was far too many moving parts to be reliable it just looked a mess to me, but a brave effort.

The tabloid press seem to resurrect this every year. I could only see it being viable in places like the Australian outback or for the emergency services. As soon as flying mode is engaged you enter the world of aviation regulations, licencing and maintenance so it would be interesting to know what market is being claimed by the developers.

Going back to the '30's when all this seemed a distinct possibility but not now. We will all need to be buying really comfortable walking shoes as personal transport will become more difficult and, speaking of difficulties, due to fare dodgers, it won't be long before you will only be allowed to board the new Bus for London by the front door only. A great shame for us that don't have to pay anyway !!

Likely because being from NL and born in the village where the company is located, I take a very different view. I think this machine looks to be very well engineered. It is also approved by authorities in Eu and Usa.
What I had not realized is that flying this Pal-v is 2-3 times less fuel efficient compared to driving. I appreciate that cruising speed when flying will also be 2 x that of driving. So from a CO2 perspective no gain, only in time efficiency.

Hello Bert, I didn't want to offend anyone this is an amazing achievement it's just that I don't think there is a future for these combined function vehicles really. They have had loads of trials with them in USA but I don't think any of them have made it into mass production the whole thing is a compromise to my mind.
Time will tell.

Completely impratical. You cant land planes just anywhere and if you think HMG would allow you to land on the M6, think again. You cant fly a plane without a much more intensive traiing and learning process. You cant take off without lots of pre preparation, flight plans etc. The plane requires much more thorought maintenance and checking than your car. Lots of areas you simply cannot fly into or over.

This has been a dream for a hundred years and many attempts have been made to realize it. Some have even got as far as FAA certification, but the sad fact remains that the compromises required to combine an airplane and car into a single machine result in a sad hybrid that is a both lousy car and a lousy plane.
