Good news re the manual variants, but a shame to see the steel chassis go if the cost increases are true.
I guess the new owners have big plans!

Good news , in a way ,it had to happen in the end.

On the positive side for Trad owners, their cars really will become classic cars, something they never could be when new ones were being made every day.

I wonder f they will try something like the Supersport once again - the modern body style they had a short run of. Now the underpinnings are modern and there is a good demand for modern sports cars, it would be an obvious addition to make. After all, not everyone wants side screens and leaks and a style reminiscent of the 40s. Could be a front engined alternative to Lotus.

I see lots of potential for MMC going forward on the new chassis.

No surprises really. One could almost say it is long overdue. I guess there has been enough guesses, half announcments, leaks, intentional hints etc. That the cat was already pretty much out of the bag and the powers that be at Morgan have decided to make the news official. I can also immagine that they have closely followed the various surmises, wish lists, comments etc on this forum and in other places.

I doubt very much that I would buy another new Morgan, but hey, who knows how much I might be tempted. I just hope that they are able to keep the price of the smaller engined models somewhat contained for the sake of future buyers. I just received an email from Borghi which included an offer for a "pronta consegna" Morgan Plus Six First Edition Emerald Green at €110,000.00. Outside my budget by a good margin.

They would be crazy if they did not make an Aero and a nice Aero styled coupe would certainly be interesting to some.

And the Mtw ....?

I find no surprise that the time has come for Morgan to move forward, given they held out long past a time when four wheeled transport really did incorporate the hand crafted skills of generations of COACH-builders.

For me it was the Vintage aspects that Morgan despite all the odds had managed to retain which attracted me. The true hand crafted aspects have in time reduced bit by bit as production..err..modernised..? I do hope that the MMC finds the customer base it needs to keep on going.

As I have typed before it seems to me that the baby boomers are the natural customer base for classics of all types, given that is the age group of the folk I see at classic car gatherings..? That the young seem to be struggling financially to buy homes for themselves let alone classic cars...Hmm! I suspect there may be a "residue" of baby boomers around who have become acclimatised to all the mod cons of their mundanemobiles and desire to have as much of that technology as possible made available in a Morgan, but it seems to me that particular customer base may reduce in time..?

Of course I hope I am wide of the mark.

MTW I imagine will be completely unaffected and continue as normal, which is great as I love them and think they bring in a completely different demograph of owners which is great for Morgan.

No mention of an Aero yet, but they did say earlier this year that the Plus Six was not a replacement for the Aero, and 2021 would bring another new model - so here is hope!

I think the time has long passed that the buyer of a new car had to go out and buy a grease gun and get under the car every few thousand miles in order to grease the suspension. I certainly don't recall that I was aware of this before I purchased the car and I have met Morgan owners that were completely unaware of the necessity even after many thousands of miles.

And this will be the end of Morgan as we knew and admired. It is time to close the factory or at least change its name, by 2020 Morgan will have ceased to exist. Another brand that bites the dust. Bye, bye, Morgan ...
