Removed wheels from my 4/4 Sport for the first time yesterday, the nuts were torqued to 170 lb/ft. ( they only slackened when I stood my 12 stone on a foot long bar that I bodged onto the tool kit spanner)

Got the nuts off now and replaced with 2 eared spinners which look great. Took a wheel off and tried it out on the rear rack as I'm thinking about carrying a spare for trips abroad and the wheels sits quite nicely there without being too obtrusive. The Sport rack helps being fitted close to the rear panel and the wheel's pretty narrow. Just need to have a think about the upper brake light as the French in particular are pretty hot about such things.

French rozzers stopping Mogs with obscured hi level brake lights is surely an urban fairy tale, you'd be hard pressed to even see les flics in most parts of France let alone get pulled

My sojourns through Aveyron have been by Defender, would love to take the Mog but no room with son#2 still in attendance, think the Gers is this summers destination + jazz in Marciac

Well I have now got the Millers Spanner, however it is 1.5m long.. Was thinking of cutting it down to fit in the car ideally above the Petrol tank in the 4 seater.

Has anyone discovered the optimal length?

I've got the MGOC item which is similalrly a long bit of kit ( 'tho praps not quite as long as the Millers)

I've also given thought to cutting it down but have held off because, of course, the whole secret of success is the length of the lever and the commensurate increase in force

I'll talk to dad this weekend to see if a two piece "Millers" could be created using a smaller diameter tube which could be welded inside the existing handle to create a strong slotting removable joint.

That would be a good idea - perhaps equal two lenghts.

Just taken delivery of the Mulfab spanner. Worked first time, no scratches on knuckles or wheel nut. It is also very well made the picture on their website does not do it justice! The handle is 18 inches, long enough to do the job and small enough to carry with you!
