An inevitable evolution in my opinion. The trad design with steel ladder chassis is well past its sell by date in today’s environment. The visual design of a Morgan is a major attraction and the mentality of buyers has managed to keep it going for a long time. The myriad of comments, threads, stories of ownership, modifications, maintenance etc in TM are a hint to the need to move with the times. How many times has the idea of the ageing owners cropped up and the low numbers of younger buyers been commented on. At least the modern mechanicals will be one less off putting aspect. Price is the other but the updates to a true modern car will ease that barrier. “How much is the car? £50k? But you need to grease it, the ride is hard. Wow! That is daft. Look what I could have for that money”. Nostalgia only works up to a point. I like my trad and the hands-on and tinkering. How many would love a Morgan but with modern feel? The CX tub is designed to accept a range of power units so entry level to top of range will be interesting. Prices will be eagerly awaited. I can’t stretch to Plus6 but a smaller engined model at lower price might be tempting. One potential worry is spares for trads so would it be judicial to get the car sorted now? What would need updating? My guess is that spares will be ok for the near future though. I bet limited edition trads are on the drawing board to reduce stocks though. Interesting times ahead. Agree with all the above

I believe that the direction of the development of the cars of MMC is clear and necessary and it is accepted by most TM members. Most of us on average slightly older drivers fluctuate between pride and value for our trad, understanding the needs of a younger generation and for some of us even the desire to buy and drive a CX themselves. That's a healthy mix of attitudes in which nothing is wrong in my point of view.

I tend to think you are correct Luddite. You only have to look at the prices for "ordinary" cars of the '40's and '50's to see that the desire is not there however, fast Fords are rocketing in price as the "new" classic car fan get what they saw when they were young.
Thats the key to it up to a point. When we are old and finally have spare cash, we tend to think of buying what we wanted but couldnt afford when we were young. But there is another factor as well. The youngsters of today dont learn to get out and get under as we used to have to do - instead of grovelling on a cold garage floor they mess about with screns and computers.Cars that have to be fettled mechanically represent an issue to them, an issue which a dealer has to handle. Grease gun? Many wont even know what grease is.

In addition, many younger people have a different mentality. A lot of them have not learned to do without and to wait until they can afford something. They are used to financing systems and now they want to have what they really can't afford yet. Many of us older people were more cautious, realistic and modest.

What’s happening to the ones with the wooden chassis, are they still going to continue?

The wooden chassis will be used for an EV amphibious/submarine car depending on the number of designed in leaks. It will help manage flotation/ diving control. The rear luggage rack will be interchangeable with a towing frame for waterskiing. Global warming will cause sea levels to rise so MMC are ideally placed with the wooden chassis.
