Not a drop has passed my lips since the first of December. However I should get ashore on Monday and will be able to get that situation sorted out!

I hope Caroline recovers quickly.
Re horse rugs - they were invented by sadists. And the idea that you can change a horses rugs whilst staying clean is a pure fantasy in December. If you put a clean rug on a horse and turn it out into a field it seems to have the sole ambition of turning the clean rug into a sodden, muddy, mess.

I stopped drinking at the age of 19 after 5 hard years of drinking! We started early in Wales as the only entertainment was drinking or chasing sheep and I was always a slow runner :-)

I gave up drinking last year. It was the worst 20 minutes of my life.

I wish Caroline a speedy and complete recovery and well done supporting her with abstinence.
Up until 2001 when I worked full time with lots of International and National travel with 5 star hotels mostly drinking "socially" with colleagues and friends was the norm and plenty of it.
Other than meeting up as we did on the Haynes outing I'm not bothered by it, my wife is virtually teetotal so no encouragement. We did have about 8 pints each at the TM meeting at the Walnut that evening though and thoroughly enjoyed it it's very much a male company thing I think. There is always a couple of bottles of nice old malts in the cupboard which get sampled when friends come round. A case of good real ale in for Christmas of course.
