Im running a Michelin cross climate, pretty amazing. Seems to grip better whilst lasting for ages, longest lasting tyre I've had. And its Symmetrical tread pattern. They do give amazing mileages as is borne by the fact that the lease Companies in the Uk are now fitting them to lease cars due to their longer life

?? You must have a different fitting arrangement. Just recently removed my rear wheel, and was easy to do with the hydraulic brake line attached. Because of the way (angle) the line was fastened, I did loosen the right angle fitting and rotate it about 90 degrees before re-tightenting in order to ensure enough slack to slide the wheel/hub off the swing arm. I did later remove the brake line to separate the backing plate for a good cleaning and service, but in looking at my machine, I can't imagine how it would be required to remove the line. But then I have an early car, so there may be differences.

My brake line has a loop in it which would give plenty of slack.
Is this something only later cars have?

Mine is like that but I could not get the wheel low enough to get the axle out and brakes removed from the drum.

BTW Calum, do you recall the length of those 10x1 bleeders? They make two lengths.

I am having some difficulty in getting my rear wheel balanced following a new rear tyre fitting.
The OEM tyre was getting due for change and has been replaced with A Bridgestone Weather Control, all straightforward.
The (National Chain) tyre fitters could not balance it as the cones were far too small to work on the rim. They had a universal adaptor which could be bolted to the rim, but 'would almost certainly cause surface damage to the wheel bolt holes'.
I tried several other tyre fitters with the same answers.
I then fitted the hub and tried motorcycle tyre places ,but their mounting spindles are not long enough and in any case they thought that holding the rim still on the spindle would be a problem.
Static balancing was suggested ,but now I am finding great difficulty finding someone who can still do static balancing.
Is this just me or is this a regular issue ?Any suggestions anyone ? I am in Staffordshire

I once got a set of bike tyres fitted at Cambrian Tyres in Aber - very famous suppliers and fitters to bike race teams. They didn't balance the tyres - when queried, they said they didn't bother as it made little effect on the ride.

I can understand the need for the front tyres as they'll need to be as equal to each other as possible, but as the rear is in the central line, the same principle may apply as with bike tyres?
