Thanks for the welcome. I’m contemplating a change of marque and presently giving serious consideration to a Morgan Plus 4 2.0L. Car wise, I’ve had a series of classic cars (Marcos, TRs, BMWs) over past decades, and been a hard-core Porsche enthusiast and club official for the last 15 years.

Things change and I’m feeling drawn to Morgan as much for the enthusiast community, as for the car itself. Sadly, much of the decision to move on has been prompted by the recent direction of the Porsche Club which, having now grown to 22,500 members in the UK, has become more like a corporate plc with its directors being more focused on strategies and mission statements than running a car club and a club magazine that looks more like a lifestyle publication. Getting back to basics on both counts is my primary motivation.

I’m a practical individual having serviced, maintained and restored many cars but feel inclined to Morgans made in the last decade (but not the CX platform cars). I look forward to engaging with the forum community to discover more about the cars and potentially, rocking up at a Morgan event sometime. Meanwhile, seasons greetings to everyone.

One thing to note - long standing Morgan dealers are not like other car dealers. Go and see a couple and ask for a test drive in whatever takes your fancy.

I’ll be heading in that direction in the New Year. Williams in Bristol seems nearest.

Many thanks for the heads up on Williams and the welcome Graham. Wide-eyed Spaniels hold no fear. Our setter will be accompanying us when we visit Williams to approve any prospective cars, but first, I've got to get some serious work done on the Porsche (windows out repaint, refurbish the alloys, new condensers, new rads, new tyres, new coil packs and a few other bits), as well get my motorbike sold to free up some space in the garage for any new acquisition. That's for the New Year. Talking of which, I may get along to Bicester (if I can be bothered to get up early and it's not blowing a gale across that drafty airfield) after the holiday to chat to any Morgan owners there.

Welcome. I don't plan to be at Bicester this year but as you may know there will be a lot of Mogs there under the Oxmog flag.

Welcome to the forum CQ I hope you enjoy time spent here.

I suspect it may just be possible that when folk reach a certain stage of experience that they may feel they have achieved a high degree of comfort while driving, but in so doing have become aware that they may have also become dependant on an increasing degree of gizmology isolating the driver from the decision making process, which may just seem less than an ideal after all when it comes to driving for enjoyment, as opposed to the daily commute...?

At such times a desire to get back to basics to enjoy a measure of that which might be described as vintage motoring may seem ideal, though with some advantages of modernity built in, though how much in the way of modern engineering.. hmm..?

I suspect Morgan have at times been dragged, occasionally kicking and screaming through evolutionary processes required by ever advancing regulation to be where they are today, and as part of the slow and enforced march towards modernity, it seems perhaps the last vestiges of the fundamental design have had to be consigned to the history books..a mindest that befits my Luddite tendencies, perhaps... (-: Thus I suspect your choice of an era in the evolutionary process of Morgan may reflect an element of your own motoring priorities...? (-:

I do hope that you find a Morgan to fit your ideals CQ and that you enjoy the whole process of involvement that a Morgan can provide, like very few other vehicles found on the road today.
