Rear discs are a waste of time & cash, my drum shoes had only worn to still have more than 50% liner left after 48,000 miles AND others have found the handbrake on discs to be very ineffective

Roll bars - agree on a Track car. But I have never heard of a MOG rolling over on the roads, as normal I stand by to be corrected...........

Sadly I can put my hand up and say that I have rolled a Morgan on the highway. Thanks to a surfeit of liquid cow s*** over driving ability I put our 4/4 onto it's roll-over bar and then cartwheeled it when I hit the bank. Ironically, I was on my way to take part in a hillclimb but, of course, never made it. The actual indecent takes a long time to explain but a slack static seatbelt and the lack of somewhere to brace my feet played a part. Mostly, though, it was bad driving.

However, I did another 20k miles in the rebuilt car (new roll bar) and a further 35 in our current Roadster (no roll bar) and never during that time have I felt the need to add one (perhaps I learned from the experience).

The picture below shows the car once I'd pushed it upright; it having ended up on it's nearside.

If you are not familiar with the effects of fast-grown fresh wet grass on a cow's digestive system, you won't know about 'scour'. The results are not unlike Castrol GTX and about as slippery.. I asked the police if I could take action against the for failing to clear up after his cattle but I was told it was an act of god. was not best pleased and there ended my competition career.

Actually I didn't restore the car but if you want to know how bad relations can get with a Morgan service dealer (no longer in business thankfully) that's another long story.

I think you may have encountered a case of local plod not wishing to get involved with the paperwork. Farmers have a very definite obligation to keep the roads clean and to warn road users of any potential hazard. The fine for failing to do so could be as much as £1,000 and they could be charged with causing danger to road users.

I am no lawyer but I suspect with the correct advice you could not only have recovered the cost of repair to the car but could have demanded compensation for the psychological trauma and loss of your sporting activity.

Herding cattle along the public highway.

On the back road to Lampeter from Llanfair Clydogau there are (or at least were) two farms that herd cattle across between farm and fields opposite. One was always immaculate ( we called it the 'red farm' as the gates were painted red, although looking at Google Maps, they're now blue), and the road was always kept as clean as realistically possible. The other was known locally as 'sh1t corner' and I don't think I'd ever met anyone who didn't have some experience of going sideways due to the amount of muck covering the road. I know they were periodically asked to clear it up, but it would only be a matter of days before it was back to it's usual state.....

And 'sh1t corner' on Google Maps is living up to it's name, although not as bad as it's been.
