The current heavy rain has resulted in a leak over the parcel shelf & tool tray. The rubber seal between the back of the hood and the body is coming away and letting in water.
The question is what is the best way to fix it back?
It looks like a double sided sticky (fabric) tape is used in the factory which makes sense from a manufacturing point of view. Is the tape available or if not what's the best adhesive?

One of the problems with fixing at the moment is that the hood itself is damp and difficult to dry over winter - the car is kept in an unheated garage. Is it practical to remove the hood so it can dry off in the house?

The car is still in use at this time of year - we're off to Worcester today - but I would like to think it's waterproof.

Don't have a suggestion for glue, but I have an unheated garage and use a portable dehumidifier in winter. It dried my previous cars mohair hood very quickly.

I have not had this problem but the rubber seal on my car does not even touch the body work on the left and right back corners. When the hood is up you can see daylight through the gap

- the de-humidifier sounds like a good idea.

Once dry *, you could try using some of this -

Tiger seal

It will stick most things to most things

Obviously , I would test an inconspicuous part of the hood first - but I have used it on my hood with success.....

* it says it can be used on wet surfaces but ,personally, I would prefer the area to be dry

I take it your hood is a later MMC easy up design with the two catches onto the screen. It is easy to take the hood off. Just unscrew the frame from the panel, it will be though a 2 person job. You need a neoprene based glue like bostik to repair it.

Mine was the same when I first got it. It can be adjusted at the fixing point to help with the problem. I also find on initially putting the hood up the hoop above the rear window tends to sit above the stitched seam, pressing above the bar with the edge of the hand moves the bar below the stitching and reduces the tension enough to get the seal to make contact.
