Tonight's Concert is dedicated to the hardbob. I found this Horace Silver video from 1959 by chance when I was looking for another Silver tune. I love the great energy, the groundedness of the composition and the timelessness of this music.
Happy new year folks, thought to suggest a wee song for any ex-pat Scots, not Auld Lang Syne but something a tad more recent and would bring a tear to a glass eye... (-:
Tony Jo White was a massive talent. much missed. My personal favourite is Rainy Night in Georgia
Very very sensitive play, both by Tony and by the band. I like how shortly before the end, for example at 5:00 the super groove of these musicians flashes up very understated, only for a fine little moment they let it sound. And he knows his Strat to play.
Yep.... Who knows where the time goes.... One of my old time favourites..... Especially the Fairport convention version with Richard Thompson effortlessly noodling genius riffs behind her voice... Knowing she died young makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up K
Sorry that this is a link to the Google search so you have to skip the YouTube ad... I'm not as adept as Rich at isolating the good stuff from the dross... worth the extra click tho . :-)
