A new report from Autocarp (no fish jokes, I think I got away with it) on the UKs most popular/unique car colours. Sadly shows black white and 50 shades of grey are still dominant. The Colour range on the market at the minute is in excess of 90.000, the colour card box we issue holds @ 9000 colour cards, any more and you would fill a room,
we recently asked the factory if they could produce a scaled down version of the box due to the cost
They replied with "YES" we can scale down to @ 200 colours they would be mainly grey's and VW would dominate the box.

The world has gone Grey mad. Look at the number of properties which are being "Greyed" as well as the interiors. It is such a depressing colour but thinking about it, can you call it a colour.
Long live Lambo yellow, lime green or purple.
Here for a good time not a long time!!

In 2013 I bought a new VW Polo
As I look at the choice of colours: Black, Metallic: blue, a darker blue, silver, dark silver, black, than a blue and red, but all not my cup of tea. And for all this colours I must pay extra.
So I turn to the only costfree colour: middle grey.
I collect the car from the factory. When we collect it the man in the factory asks me why such a car? In the morning when they see the car wonder who is the customer?
The big 110PS engine, electronic sport suspension, 4 doors, but the only standard colour, no more extras? A pensioneer?
No, two mid50... And why grey? I told him ALL colours are poor and not my taste. So I chosse the colour with no extra money.
In the end my wife an me love the car. Powerful and decent. We called her "die graue maus" ( the grey mouse).

VW is probably the worst for conservative colours, although occasionally they blip with things like Limette. But BMW/Merc/Audi are almost as bad.
Any shade on the silver through to black is bland, and I often wish we were back in the eighties.
Maybe people just want to blend in? Who knows...……………...

My local dealer wrapped a new Polo like that a couple of years ago, and it looked very convincing.

You make Grey from Black & White mixed, ....black & White are the two cheapest pigments produced.
