That would be great. Thanks very much. Any info you can gain regarding history would be great but I think the service history is a bit scant. out of the three cars linked into this page, the red car looks the best, but as said, make sure you take someone who knows where to look. That's the trick isn't it. I don't have a Morgan expert at hand but happy to accept any help.

I think the red car at Williams looks tempting. I see they have done a service and some brake work on it. I know its MOT exempt BUT it could always be put in for a new one. Williams mention it had one last year with no advisories so I'd be surprised if they were not happy to get it tested for its new owner. Agree about taking someone along who knows these older versions - but feel a new MOT would offer some peace of mind also. MOT ran out in November last year according to DVLA. Always a good idea to have an old vehicle checked out periodically. I have kept them up on my '68 MGB. Also shows responsible behaviour to any future purchaser.

The red car at Williams looks in about the same condition as mine was when I bought it 28 years ago. And a good deal better than mine was when I bought it 20 years ago. I would think that at the asking price this could be a very nice car for a hands-on mechanic to own. The bodywork is a bit iffy in places, my main worry would be the state of the inner wing valances and the outer faces of the bulkhead where they overlap. The point about rolling DIY restorations ending up costing more than buying a good one is in my view a weak argument for 2 reasons: 1. It assumes that you get no pleasure from carrying out the work, which as Spanner Juggler has pointed out, is at least half the fun of ownership of a classic car 2. If you are living on an income, then it's a heck of a lot easier to find a hundred quid every once in a while than it is to come up with a flippin' great pile of cash at the start. Not everyone appreciates the loss of freedom that comes with being in debt to someone. At the end of the day, we buy these cars with out hearts not our heads. There's no substitute for having a look in person and seeing which one appeals.

Been to view car this morning.it is a one family owner from new.
A couple of easy rust spots on steel wings to repair.
Wood has been replaced with new bulkhead .
I would think with a little work it would be worth 21 k.
Get the engine blue printed with a good weber carb.
A good buy for someone.
No MOT s to worry about and no emissions also!
There were a couple of people viewing the car today.

Thanks for looking. I'll phone at end of play today to see if it's gone (well I can hope!).
Running costs are certainly a consideration. About £100 insurance and no tax. I'm assuming a later model (say mid '90s) would be £265 tax and probably same to insure as it's not a classic at that age. Plus MOT.

Hi all, thanks for the comments and advice.
I'm going to view this car on Wednesday this week (it is still available). As advised I'm looking for someone with experience of Morgans of this age to come along and cast a critical eye. I'll be asking to get the car on a ramp to look underneath so hopefully no crawling around on the floor! Otherwise I'll be trusting on the reputation of the dealership and my experience of old cars in general.

Generally appears to be an honestly presented example of the series,....only my .02 cents worth. Paintwork and prep seems to have been done by amateurs, or someone guided by strict financial constraints. Some of the paint failure appears directly due to lack of diligence and/or experience in prepping/cleaning for top coat. Environmental factors most probably also contributed.to the flaking and bubbling. While seeming trivial to some, blatant paint over-spray (on the hood tape especially) would have a tendency to put some potential buyers off. It certainly isn't a 4/4 I would run away from though!
