Don’t know about the bevel box but sounds like something has broken in the engine, mine sounded the same when the camshaft snapped. Shame but not surprised, hope they get it sorted soon!

It sounds like valves and pistons in contact to me (very poor sound quality though), I wish them much luck with the fix and the rest of the voyage they are very brave on those roads.

Nothing like arm-chair diagnostics without the benefit of any data, eh?
Fuel pump?
The comment about the bevel-box seemed odd...

Without stating the obvious the engine is not starting in the video. If it was a sudden loss of power the first place I would look is the cam belt as these are prone to failure, if the cam belt is OK then the fuel pressure should be about 58psi at the test port on top of the engine if very low then this points to the fuel pump.
Providing a cam belt and alignment pins are available the belt can be changed in about an hour, about the same for a fuel pump, I have done both in car parks in Europe.

Definitely turning over too freely, but it's thankfully a non interference engine so even if cam belt or drive broken, nothing should touch. Hopefully they have such spares.

I seem to remember KH prepped the car so I guess the support vehicle will be well stocked with the normal M3W fail bits and pieces. It will be interesting to see how the frame holds out under such dire conditions.

+1 agree with Roger - most likely cambelt or fuelpump.
Two easy checks - the cambelt cover comes off with 4 allen bolts and if the cambelt is OK then whip the plugs out and if its the fuelpump they will be dry.
Not sure why Alan mentioned broken bevel box as that wouldn't prevent the engine starting.
The S&S can take a while to fire up even when everything's OK. It's worth switching off the headlights and cranking the engine for a good 20-30 seconds rather than in short bursts.
Fingers crossed the support team have it fixed soon..

It sounded like it was cranking much to freely. I agree. My two penn'orth... All 4 Centa rollers failed or broken crank. Having said that, it could be the fuel pump. I'm guessing that the support team do know how to reset the fuel pump cutoff switch....
