I tightened mine (it was REALLY sloppy from the dealer) and then kept rotating the wheel until the belt seemed to stay center. then I ran it (tire up) to recheck. I guess I just remember the older motorcycles where centering the wheel was as much art as mechanics

Thanks. Love the video. I agree the belt centering is as much of an art. I am going to leave it alone and not over think it.

Did you center the drive belt with the adjusters and then tighten the axle not?

How do you judge what is tight enough on the axle nut/nuts?

OK, I centered the belt using the adjusters and put the proper slack into the belt. All is well there so I went to tightening the axle nut.

I noticed that the rear wheel was not spinning as freely when the vehicle was on my lift. The brake seems to be dragging, maybe the auto adjusters have not taken their position yet? It spun freely without the axle nut being tightened.

Any ideas?

I found my mistake in reassembling the rear axle assembly. I put a washer on the wrong side of the axle, primarily because the drawing from Morgan leaves it out.

I put the third washer on the drive belt side and it should have been on the brake side of the axle. It is number 11 part on the exploded view and that view only shows 2 washers where there should be three. I added it in this crude sketch but I believe you get the idea. The third one should be between the adjuster and the drum backing plate mechanism.
