Here's shot I took of the floods on the A449 this morning. Note the white van which had come to a halt - the driver was still in the cab.

And the aerial view. The van's bottom left. [Linked Image]

That is horrendous...

Do you fly a float-plane!

It's okay they are made of wood so they float right?

It was as bad as this in 2007 after which the Environment Agency built flood defences. This lot just came straight over the top of them though.

My only way home from MMC yesterday afternoon was via Ledbury.
Upton was closed. the new, 1m higher causeway between Upton and A38 wasunder water by early afternoon, though not closed until 16:00 or so.
Went in via Ledbury this morning, too, though apparently Upton reopened around 07:00...

And all of this misery could be minimized, if one would invest in proper water management... says the Dutch guy. I know, it will not be done properly, too costly (Tax!), too difficult, etc.

That Upton causeway scheme cost £4 million. [Linked Image]

The £1.8 million scheme to raise New Road outside the cricket ground in Worcester which was completed last year also failed to prevent the road being closed.

I was on about the (approximate) additional height, not the cost smile

And as global warming raises sea levels by 5 metres? A sea wall round the whole UK?
