Ian It will indeed. Now they have a modern chassis, I wonder if they are going to have another car range with a modern body? To me it seems like a no brainer - in reality there only is Lotus in the market. TVR isnt going to happen, Ginetta isnt a real road car, and IMO the caterham and variants arent really cars. They could offer a much less bland alternative to the Boxter.

To me it seems like a no brainer - in reality there only is Lotus in the market. TVR isnt going to happen, Ginetta isnt a real road car, and IMO the caterham and variants arent really cars. They could offer a much less bland alternative to the Boxter. They tried that before and it didn't sell , too many normal soft top cars out there so no need for another !

When they tried it before there were loads of alternative sports cars available like Healeys, Triumphs, MGs . That isnt the situation now. For enthusiasts there are very few , only the ones mentioned. And MMC now have modern management not a family stuck in the past.

Autocar mag speculate the engine will be BMW Z4 edrive 2.0i which is 6.6 sec 0 to 60 in the Z4. And a MANUAL GEARBOX. How retro can you get!
Shows a picture under black cover that appears narrower or is that an optical illusion and wishful thinking.

A possibiity would be to launch the new 4/4 with the 197 hp verison of the BMW 2.0 litre engine mated to a manual gearbox, and the new Plus 4 with the 258 hp version of the same engine mated to the automatic.

Artical just released on Pistonheads confirming a new 4 cylinder CX will be announced at Geneva. Power suggested is 306bhp!
