I have the RAM mounts for my Harleys and the RAM Ball should be made of aluminum and then anodized. BUT... it's core is metal and the outer skin is some durometer of urethane and with just the "little" flex in the ball outer covering, let's the mount bounce a LOT. Do any of you have a solid metal ball mount versus the urethane coated one? ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2020/02/28/RAM-mount-6.jpg) Hello Dan. In my honest opinion, with the 3 wheeler shacking so much, it's better to have this urethane coat that acts as a cushion for the whole set. If the ball was metal solid, the shacking would be more violent I guess. Not good for the thread of the ball, not Good for the smartphone neither...

[quote=You'll be wanting a RAM 1” tough-ball, M6-1 fitting. RAM-RAP-B-379U-M616.[/quote] I order this exact part number, and it arrived with the threaded portion too short to replace once of the instrument panel screws.

Looking on the RAM website the item appears to have a long M6 thread but on some ebay illustrations it shows a shorter thread, maybe not all RAM mounts are equal? The one I got was perfect.

The one I received appears to be a genuine Ram brand.
I've since ordered a non Ram brand 1" ball mount for a motorcycle that comes with virus length 6mm screws so hope this will work.

I used the TomTom Vio on my 3W, will be fixed to the outside mirror. This has lifetime updates plus radar warnings as well. Unfortunately TomTom is not producing it anymore.

TomTom have an interesting view on 'lifetime'. I have three Tom Toms with lifetime updates that I can no longer update as they no longer support those models. They have decided that they are at their 'End of Life'. Tom Tom is still my satnav of choice, having previously used Navman and Garmin, but I'm disappointed that they no longer do they're small square 3.5" ones

Indeed - their view of “lifetime” eg until support is ended, is somewhat different from consumers’ eg while the thing still switches on! Hence using a phone as SatNav is often best as people tend to update phones more often, and paying for updates to apps is a little more natural.
